HAMILTON — A 22-year-old Corvallis man accused of assaulting his 9-week-old son, possibly causing permanent injuries, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison with 10 years suspended.
District Judge Jeffrey Langton sentenced Christopher R. Lewis on Wednesday. Lewis previously pleaded no contest to felony aggravated assault.
He was arrested in February 2010 after bringing his son to a Corvallis clinic because the baby was vomiting. The infant was taken to a Missoula hospital where a scan found bleeding in his brain and eyes, symptoms consistent with shaken baby syndrome.
Physicians said then that the infant might be developmentally delayed because of the injuries and that his eyes could be permanently damaged.
