A jury of nine men and three women unanimously found Wyatt Greenough not guilty of involuntary manslaughter Wednesday after about 90 minutes of deliberation.
Greenough told the jury he is devastated by the 3-month-old's death but does not believe he did anything to cause it.
He declined comment as he left the courtroom with crying, smiling friends and family.
Prosecutors said Greenough was criminally reckless when he drank at least seven or eight beers within a couple of hours, then went to bed with little Meadow snuggled against on his shoulder. A few hours later, the baby's mother came home to find the infant under a thick comforter and her father's arm, not breathing.
The defense argued there is no way, within a reasonable doubt, to eliminate the possibility that the little girl died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome rather than suffocation.
The jury apparently agreed with the defense.
