multiple child-death case, Knuckey's daughter Carol Matthey maintained she was innocent of killing her children Shania, 3, Jacob, seven months, Joshua, three months and Chloe, two months.
Pathologists had found Jacob and Chloe died of sudden infant death syndrome, Joshua of a rare infection and Shania's death was undetermined.
But prosecutors had alleged one expert witness would argue they were smothered to death.
The case against Ms Matthey was dropped after contested medical evidence was ruled inadmissible at her Supreme Court trial in 2007.
