RICHMOND — A trial date has been set for a Richmond man accused of causing the death of his infant daughter.
Paul Sanlan Farthing Jr., 30, is accused of killing his 3-month-old daughter, Rylee Campbell.Farthing appeared Thursday in Madison Circuit Court before Judge Jean C. Logue.
Per an agreement between the Commonwealth Attorney’s office and Farthing’s public defender, Logue set a one-week trial slated to start April 11.
“I’m sure I’ll schedule it for a status conference sometime before then,” Logue said.
Farthing was arrested April 14 by Kentucky State Police. The baby had been admitted to the hospital for shaken baby syndrome after being in the care of her father. She died at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, and Farthing was charged with murder.
He was indicted for murder for causing Campbell “to suffer traumatic brain injuries which resulted in her death,” the indictment read.
The case against Farthing had been continued two times earlier this year.
In August, it was continued so that forensic samples from the child’s autopsy sent to a lab in New Mexico could be returned. The lab originally was identified as being in Oklahoma.
In September, Meena Mohanty, Farthing’s public advocate attorney, said she needed a final continuance so that she could decipher the results of the autopsy report.
Farthing is being held in the Madison County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond.
If convicted, he faces 20 or more years in prison.
