Scope and Contents: Files document the department's investigation of instances of suspected sudden infant death syndrome statewide. Each file includes the name of the deceased infant, names and addresses of parents, the county where the death occurred, a narrative of the circumstances surrounding the infant's death, and a case number. Variously included are copies of birth and death certificates; coroner's, medical examiner's, or forensic pathologist's reports; prehospital care or ambulance reports; inquest reports; departmental investigation report forms; and related correspondence and memoranda among investigators and with patients.
