Day four of the Doris Herrin jury trial got underway in Lexington today.
Herrin is on trial for child abuse resulting in the death of her three-year-old daughter, Misty in December 2010.
Two forensic pathologists took the stand to give their testimony on what they believe caused Misty's death.
Forensic Pathologist Dr. David Posey of Los Angeles was the first to take the stand.
He believes Misty accidentally fell from a dresser where she suffered blunt force trauma to the head...
and not due to shaken baby syndrome and being thrown against the wall as Doris' former cell mate Amber Winkenwurder had testified.
Dr. Posey says toxicology, medical history criminal investigation reports indicate Misty had a pre-existing head injury which he believes caused her death.
However, Director of Nebraska Institute of Forensic Science and forensic pathologist Dr. Matthias Okoye says her death was not accidental.
And shaken baby syndrome and blunt force trauma caused her death.
He says toxicology and autopsy reports indicate Misty suffered three head injuries and not one like Dr. Posey indicates.
Closing arguments are scheduled for Friday.
