SBS: Alberta: Trial date not set yet for Desiree Rochelle Hansen in case of assault on baby

A trial date might not be set until mid-September for a Blackfalds woman charged with aggravated assault on a baby.
Desiree Rochelle Hansen, 28, of Blackfalds had her charge adjourned on Monday until Sept. 12 when her lawyer appeared for her in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench.
The accused was charged in early 2010 after Lacombe emergency service personnel responded to a call.
The male infant was taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Jan. 6, 2010.
Hansen was ordered to stand trial before a judge and jury following a preliminary hearing in April and early May. The hearing was held to determine if there was enough evidence to warrant the accused stand trial in Queen’s Bench.
Shaken baby syndrome is a form of abuse that occurs when a person violently shakes an infant or small child, creating a whiplash-type motion that causes acceleration-deceleration injuries.
